RSCS Reunion - August 20-22 2010

National Society of DAR honors Richfield Springs woman

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Astenrogen Chapter daughter Theresa M. Willemsen was recently honored at the national conference of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held in Washington, D.C. this July.

Willemsen was honored at the New York State luncheon in Washington as the Outstanding New York State chapter regent for 2004. She is the former regent of the Astenrogen Chapter of the DAR in Little Falls 2001-2004. In addition, Willemsen currently serves as the Central New York Round Table chairperson.

Willemsen received national honors as the outstanding state chairman of the Women’s Issues Committee, which she chairs for New York State.

As part of the Women’s Issues Committee, Willemsen organizes an essay contest based on the topics of career, family and health. New York was pleased to have two Northeast Division winners in that contest and especially honored to have Sandra Stoker Gilliland of Scipio Center, N.Y., Owasco Chapter, win at the national level for the career essay.

In her role as the New York State Women’s Issues chair, Willemsen travels throughout the state educating and promoting activities related to women’s issues.

Willemsen and her husband, Frank P. Willemsen Jr., reside in Richfield Springs. She is employed by Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, in the Women’s Health Department.
