Otsego County Chamber to hold State-of-the-County breakfast

The Otsego County Chamber announced that the first Annual State-of-the-County breakfast, sponsored by New York Central Insurance of Edmeston, will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Holiday Inn of Oneonta/Cooperstown area. The event will begin with a buffet breakfast at 7:30 am followed by a presentation by James P. Powers, Chair of the Otsego County Board of Representatives, at 8:00 am.

Chair Powers will give a short presentation on the major issues that Otsego County is currently dealing with and also issues that must be tackled in the future. After the Chair concludes his remarks, a question and answer session will take place. This is the first year the event is being held mirroring the very successful Annual State-of-the-State event held in early January

Probable topics of discussion are broadband telecommunications/EMS communications, state mandated but not fully funded services, property tax relief, and shared and/or consolidation of services between the state, the county and the city/towns, MOSA—which expires in 2014—and future options for solid waste.

The event costs $20 for Chamber members or $30 for non-members. For reservation to the event, please contact Pam Ferguson at 607-0432-4500, ext. 201, or email pam@otsegocountychamber.com.

The Otsego County Chamber’s mission is to provide legislative action and economic development assistance for existing and new businesses. The Chamber offers programs and services that enhance a member’s ability to reduce their cost of doing business and to create employment opportunities while promoting Otsego County as an ideal place to live and work.

For further information on becoming an active member of The Otsego County Chamber, please contact Pam Ferguson at 877-5-OTSEGO.
