The Otsego County Chamber announced that the first Annual State-of-the-County breakfast, sponsored by New York Central Insurance of Edmeston, will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Holiday Inn of Oneonta/Cooperstown area. The event will begin with a buffet breakfast at 7:30 am followed by a presentation by James P. Powers, Chair of the Otsego County Board of Representatives, at 8:00 am.
Chair Powers will give a short presentation on the major issues that Otsego County is currently dealing with and also issues that must be tackled in the future. After the Chair concludes his remarks, a question and answer session will take place. This is the first year the event is being held mirroring the very successful Annual State-of-the-State event held in early January
Probable topics of discussion are broadband telecommunications/EMS communications, state mandated but not fully funded services, property tax relief, and shared and/or consolidation of services between the state, the county and the city/towns, MOSA—which expires in 2014—and future options for solid waste.
The event costs $20 for Chamber members or $30 for non-members. For reservation to the event, please contact Pam Ferguson at 607-0432-4500, ext. 201, or email pam@otsegocountychamber.com.
