Sunday, Feb. 14 – Dustin J. Henness, 17, of Edmeston, was charged with sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child. The Otsego County Sheriff’s office reports the arrest of the above stated defendant allegedly had sexual intercourse with a female less than 17 years old in the Town of Edmeston. He was released and issued appearance tickets to return to the Town of Edmeston for further proceedings on March 2. Wednesday, Feb. 11 – Thomas Niznik, 34, of 377 Hinds Road, Springfield Center, was arrested for allegedly filing false documentation with the Otsego County Court and causing a false entry in their records.
Niznik, who is on felony probation, filed paperwork with false information on it at County Court in November. Niznik is being held without bail on a violation of probations charge at the Otsego County Jail and was returned to the jail after his arraignment. He faces up to four years in prison. Tuesday, Feb. 10 – Richard Earl Van Lauren, 16, of Fly Creek, was arrested while being held in the Otsego County Jail. Van Lauren and five other inmates were charged with fighting while being held at the jail. Van Leuven allegedly repeatedly punched another male inmate on February 5
According to the report, on December 3, inmate Steven Alan English, Jr. 24, of Brooklyn, allegedly attempted to assault another male inmate by punching him. The next day inmate Derek James Wright, 18, of Unadilla, allegedly repeatedly punched a male inmate, causing injury to the inmate. The victim of Wright’s assault was treated by the Otsego County Jail medical staff. Inmate Jacob Samuel Fink, 22, of Worcester, also allegedly attempted to assault another male inmate by punching him on February 2. Another inmate, Lawrence Allan Painter, Jr., 19, Burlington Flats, also allegedly attempted to assault another male inmate by punching him on February 4. Inmate Jose Manuel, 30, of Puerto Rico attacked and repeatedly punched another male inmate on February 8th. All of the defendants were arraigned by town of Otsego Judge James F. Wolff and are scheduled to appear in court next week. Wright faces up to seven years in prison on the assault in the second degree charge. All of the other defendants face up to four years in state prison each on the attempted second degree assault charges. Tuesday, Feb. 3 – Thomas A. Niznik, 34, of 377 Hinds Road, Springfield Center, was arrested in violation of his probation. He was taken into custody and remanded to the Otsego County Corrections Facility without bail.
