Grant funds photo projects

Mohawk Regional Teacher Center has approved funding of Owen D. Young’s art teacher Katie Perue’s mini-grant proposal entitled, “Photographers as Commentators on Self and Society.”

An award of $1,000 has been granted for the purchase of digital cameras for use by Perue’s art students, especially in the high school graphic design and photography classes.

On Friday, March 13, the cameras arrived and her art students kept busy learning how to use them and understand their features and capabilities.

“We really took our time and looked to get as many cameras as we could for the money we were awarded,” noted Perue.  “The more cameras we could get means the less sharing will have to be done. That means students will be able to take their photos, download them to computers in the technology lab, and work on their projects. The grant really allows us to supplement our technology capacity without using any local funds.”
