New Hartford, N.Y. – The Sitrin Health Care Center recently received a generous grant in the amount of $75,000 from The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. and the Faxton Street Home Fund. This gift was a Challenge Grant awarded to Sitrin upon meeting the first million dollars of its $3 million Expanding the Comforts of Home development campaign for its current expansion project. “The Community Foundation’s interest and support of Sitrin’s expansion project significantly helped us to secure additional grants and major gifts that have boosted our fundraising efforts well into the second million dollars of this development campaign,” said Rosemary Bonacci, vice president of development and communications at Sitrin. “We are extremely grateful to The Community Foundation for investing in us, and to the many people who support this fine organization through charitable giving,” added Bonacci. Sitrin’s $38 millionexpansion project includes the construction of Cedarbrook assisted living complex, which recently opened; construction of nine long-term houses, expected to open this spring; and renovation of two existing nursing home wings to include 46 private rooms and bathrooms for inpatient medical rehabilitation, which will begin in the spring.
