Letters to the Editor

Hoping for new life

I would like to join the many others of whom, I am sure, are sad to have our “hometown” paper cease publication. I would like to thank Jay for sticking it out as long as he has. I would like to thank Jason, Janine, Brandon and The Mercury staff for printing my historical stories and for their kindness.

I would also like to thank all of the people who encouraged me by letting me know they enjoyed my stories. I was just getting warmed up. I still have many stories yet to be told and many personal thoughts about the past, which have influenced my lfie. I will keep writing. It is my hope that The Mercury will eventually find new life. If not, in the future, I will look into having a collection of my stories printed in a book form.

Lastly, this final issue must be difficult for the former citizens of Richfield who now live hundreds or even thousands of miles away. They look forward to reading about their beloved hometown. Because of The Mercury, I have been reunited with some special childhood friends who have been very dear to me.

Anyone who would like to contact me may do so at exrem404@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

Don Urtz
