Thatís what I am regarding the end of The Mercury. Where will we learn of local issues and events that are important to our village and town? How will responsible, caring people voice their opinions on matters concerning our small part of the planet? What forum will there be for those who run for office in our village, town and school?
My family has truly enjoyed the many interesting articles in The Mercury over these few years. We have watched it grow into an informative paper which we eagerly read every week. We appreciate those whoíve taken the time to express thoughtful opinions, both pro and con, regarding issues of importance in editorials and in Letters to the Editor ... and all the very interesting articles informing the public on local sports, events, trips, history and developments community-wide. We never would have learned the history of our clock or of the wonders the Richardsons and others experienced in our beautiful country, etc.
I do want to take this last opportunity to ask voters to examine the qualities of Bruce Watson and Scot Mondore who are running for seats on the Richfield Springs Central School (RSCS) board in the upcoming school board election.
Bruce is a retired RSCS teacher who has exhibited a keen and intelligent interest in our children, community and surroundings for many years. He has authored many interesting articles for The Mercury, is a longtime resident of the village, and his children graduated from Richfield school. He has been an active participant in the life of Richfield Springs School and its students. He will fairly represent constituents both young and old, and his willingness to run for a school board position is gratifying.
Scot Mondore is a local, concerned citizen who also will bring a fresh outlook to issues our school, students and taxpayers are facing in these difficult times. Please do your duty. Speak with Bruce and Scot. Attend board meetings. Itís time for the voters to change the complexion of the school board and entertain fresh open approaches to pending issues.
Please consider a vote for Bruce and Scot.
Thank you Mercury and staff for allowing me to express my opinions and my thanks for a job very well done and one that will be greatly missed.
