Letters to the Editor

Attention: It’s not too late

The football merge does not need to happen. The reasoning behind such a move is stated by the board because “there is a lack of players.”

This is ridiculous. The state law mandate to field a football team is 16 players. The team that will be fielded next year is far above that, fielding a team of 22 (all of whom are in tenth grade or up).

As far as discussions for the safety issue, football is a contact sport. Sure a risk is present, however that risk is known every moment that a player suits up.

Every parent understands the possibility of an injury but they also understand the emotion, memories, and achievements that go along with it. Many claim that’s good enough for them.

With this issue still being presented at board meetings, if you wish to voice your support against the merger, show up, be there. Be the voice. Be the body that must be heard. Be the savior or assistance that many fighting against this are looking for.

Be the person that makes the dream of many come true.
