Herkimer Women’s B-Ball players honored

Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) freshman Samantha Fox, Cooperstown, was recently named third team All-Region III and First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference. A 6’3” center, Fox led the team with 14 points, 13.7 rebounds, 4.8 blocked shots per game and field goal percentage 46.9 percent. She was among the national leaders in rebounding and blocked shots, placing fifth and third, respectively. “Sam had an outstanding freshman season and she consistently performed well this past year,” said Coach John Campagna. “She led a very young team that improved every game and we are looking to build on our success for next year,” he added. Elizabeth King (Camden) was recently named to the third team All Mountain Valley Conference. King, a 5’9” freshman forward, averaged 9.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists per game and was the team’s free throw percentage leader at 70.8 percent. The Generals finished second in the Mountain Valley Conference with an 11-3 record and King was a difference maker this past season. “Elizabeth is a tough competitor who can beat you in many ways,” Campagna said. “She has a great mid-range jump shot and is very creative with her dribble penetration.”
