Mt. Markham’s boys volleyball team extends winning streak to five matches

Mustangs improve to 8-1 against CSC East Division foes
WEST WINFIELD — Mount Markham’s boys volleyball team improved to 8-1
in the Center State Conference East Division and 9-3 overall with two
victories last week against Herkimer’s Magicians.
In a 25-16, 24-26, 25-15 and 25-11, three-games-to-one besting at
Herkimer last Monday in a rescheduled outing, Travis McNamara tallied
14 kills, four aces and two blocks, Jason Casale had 11 kills, one ace
and eight blocks, Shannon Sweateson contributed five kills, two aces,
one assist and one block, while senior tri-captain Chad Rose recorded
21 assists and two digs.
One night later in a 25-13, 25-21 and 25-16 sweep in West Winfield,
Zach Pugh had nine kills, one ace and three blocks, teammate Cory Rose
contributed four kills, three aces and three blocks, Casale tallied six
kills and four blocks, while Eric Slosek chipped in with 12 assists and
three aces.
The Mustangs, who have now won five straight matches, begin their
most difficult stretch of the season this week with home contests
against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (Monday), Ilion (Wednesday), Oneida
(Thursday) and Living Word (Saturday).
