Locally grown perennials, annual bedding, hanging plants and vegetable seedlings will be for sale at the Upper Unadilla Valley Association’s (UUVA) annual Garden Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 16 at the Winfield Town Park, Route 20, West Winfield.
The sale will feature dozens of perennial varieties donated by local gardeners at prices ranging from $1 to $5 per pot. No plants will be sold before 10:30 a.m. Annual bedding flowers, hanging flower baskets and vegetable seedlings will be sold by Sirko’s Greenhouse, of Leonardsville. Homemade chili and other food also will be available.
At noon, the association will launch its annual “duck derby” in the nearby creek. The owner of the fastest floating plastic duck will take home half the proceeds from the sale of derby tickets, which cost $3 each or two for $5. Duck derby tickets will be available at the fair or in advance from Davis Hardware in West Winfield or association directors. Call 315-855-4368 for the director nearest you.
The UUVA is a non-profit organization that has worked for more than three decades to protect and preserve the Upper Unadilla Valley’s natural and historic resources. That region includes West Winfield, Unadilla Forks, Leonardsville, Bridgewater, West Edmeston and the surrounding vicinity.
