Herkimer, N.Y. - The Grammy-award winning Turtle Island Quartet will perform this Friday, March 27 at Herkimer County Community College. The concert, A Love Supreme: The Legacy of John Coltrane, will begin at 8 p.m. in the Sarkus-Busch Theater located in the McLaughlin College Center. | | Turtle Island Quartet | | The concert is offered through The Robert H. Wood Great Artists Series. Yo-Yo Ma called Turtle Island Quartet “A unified voice that truly breaks new ground – authentic and passionate – a reflection of some of the most creative music making today.” The Birmingham News proclaimed them to be “...intellectually engaging, technically dazzling and emotionally rich...” Aside from creating award-winning recordings, the Turtle Island Quartet has traveled all over the world to play music of multiple styles, genres and cultures. Wood Great Artists Series is the result of a generous endowment made by the late Robert H. Wood, a long-time resident of Ilion, N.Y. The Robert H.
