Montessori at Brookwood

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – The Brookwood School invites the community to learn about their Montessori education program at an open house on Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m., 687 County Hwy 59, Cooperstown. Parents, teachers and students will share their experiences with, and the benefits of a Montessori education, while touring the facility. Brookwood offers childcare, pre-school and elementary education programs for children from six weeks old through grade eight. Its programs feature small classes, caring teachers, challenging curricula, year-round programs with full and part-time slots, before and after school care with reasonable rates, plus daily roundtrip bus service from Oneonta. The Brookwood School’s toddler through eighth grade education program is Montessori-based, which promotes student-motivated learning through a challenging curriculum that is theme-based and interdisciplinary. Enrichment programs in computers, music, physical education and French are included for children enrolled in toddler, preschool and elementary school programs, with a new French immersion program for children in grades one through eight. Afterschool music lessons for piano and guitar are also available. As a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, The Brookwood School receives contributions from charitable foundations and individuals in the community. These donations enable The Brookwood School’s excellent programs to be offered to families at a cost equivalent to most other childcare options. In the event that additional assistance is needed, a financial aid program is available to qualified families. Childcare is available Monday through Friday, year-round on a full- and part-time basis, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, offering flexible hours, excluding major holidays. Families may sign up for any hours or days they would like their children to attend. These services are available before and after school and on regular school vacation days, teacher conference days and snow days. For further information about open house or childcare and elementary education programs, please call The Brookwood School at 607-547-4060.
