Farmers offered tips, free of charge

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County and New York FarmNet will sponsor a workshop called “Tips for Farming in Tough Times” on April 1, from 10:30 am. to 3 pm. at the Knights Inn, 20 Albany Street, Little Falls. This workshop is free of charge to area farmers, agri-businesses and those interested in the future of farming in New York. “Tips for Farming in Tough Times” will help producers manage their business and personal lives through times of financial and emotional stress. Professor Wayne Knoblauch, of the Applied Economics and Management Department at Cornell University, will discuss financial management strategies that in the short term can help the farm weather the current economic conditions. Karen Mastronardi, New York FarmNet Human Services Director, will share stress management suggestions, as well as identify indicators when someone may need to seek professional help along with how to make those connections. This will be an interactive session where questions or concerns from the audience are welcome. Lunch will be provided free of charge to participants.
