The Cooperstown Art Association is pleased to announce the opening reception of two exhibits to be held Friday, March 6 from 5-7 p.m. “An Artistic Discovery” the Congressional Art Competition for Otsego County High School Students will be on display in Gallery A. “A Life in Paradise,” held in Gallery B, will be a solo show of artwork by Martha Greenbank Sharer, of Cherry Valley. Both exhibits will be on display through March 27. “An Artistic Discovery” is a high school art competition held within the 24th Congressional District by county. Six students will be receiving ribbons for their work at the CAA and will go on to exhibit at Munson - Williams - Proctor Art Institute School of Art Gallery joined by student artwork from Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Oneida, Ontario, Seneca, Tioga and Tompkins Counties. From there, one student’s work will go on to be displayed in the corridor leading to the U.S. Capitol along with 49 other high-school artists’ work from across the country. Stop in and see this exciting and fresh exhibit of work by the young aspiring artists of Otsego County. “A Life in Paradise” will feature paintings and drawings by Martha Greenbank Sharer in Gallery B. Martha’s work catalogs the nuances of a life rich with art, family and farming. Her delicate watercolors and vibrant pastels capture the personalities and fundamental nature of her subjects whether they are her children at play or her cows at pasture. The Cooperstown Art Association galleries located at 22 Main Street in the Village Library Building, diagonally across the street from the Baseball Hall of Fame.
