Utica, N.Y. - The American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley will be offering the following Babysitting Trainings for young adults’ ages 11 to 14: Thursday Feb 19: The Zone, 6 Ann St (Corner of Walnut St) Richfield Springs Tuesday, Feb 17 American Red Cross Utica Office, 1415 Genesee Street, Utica Saturday, Feb 28: American Red Cross Utica Office, 1415 Genesee Street, Utica During the class, participants receive the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience, Babysitter’s Training shows the participants how to respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care; make decisions under pressure; communicate with parents to learn household rules; recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage young children; feed, diaper and care for infants. The price of the training is $30 per person, which includes a book and resource CD. All participants are asked to bring a lunch and a doll or infant-sized stuffed animal for practice.
