Jordanville, N.Y. – The Jordanville Federated Church is continuing its series of “Literary Teas” on Saturday, Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day at 3 p.m., in the Social Hall of the church at 209 Main Street, Jordanville. Come enjoy an afternoon of a traditional High Tea (three courses) and readings of short stories. A Love Story (of sorts) by Damon Runyon is the selected reading for this Valentine’s Day celebration.
Damon Runyon, best know for his work “Guys and Dolls,” weaves stories of interesting characters of 1920s Broadway, which he tells in the street slang of that time. Gambling, horse racing, cops and gangsters are the subjects that make his stories so colorful. We can’t forget the “Dolls,” which is the focus of the story selected for this tea.
All are encouraged to attend. Please call 315-866-3353 or 315-858-2798 to let us know you are coming so we know how many pots of tea to have ready. A free will offering will be taken and divided between the church and the Jordanville Public Library.
This series of “Literary Teas” will follow its every other month format and conclude April, 4 with a “Foolishness” theme for the readings.
The series will resume in Oct. with readings appropriate to the Halloween season.
