Turnout for Quality Education Study Group encouraging
The Quality Education Study Group at Owen D. Young Central School
wishes to thank all those who chose to come to our public meeting
Thursday, May 12, in the Springfield Community Center. It was
encouraging to see folks there who so passionately care about their
kids and their education, and who were interested in learning what the
Quality Education Study Group is about.
In particular, thank you to Mrs. Cathy Mayton-Collins, for attending
as the representative for the Owen D. Young school board – we
appreciate your willingness to “put yourself out there” and engage in
an open and lively dialog about the school, its curriculum, etc. We
appreciate the time you took to prepare and share with the group
statistical information about student pass/fail rates on the Regents.
This data verified what we had presented based on the NYS Education
School Report Card and shows that we are operating from the same
information base.
We hope that this meeting may have served as a starting point for
more open communication and discussion between the taxpayers, parents,
administration, and the Board of Education of Owen D. Young Central
School. We feel that continuing with this kind of dialog will help us
in working together toward providing an even higher level of quality
education, in keeping with the goals and ideals of Owen D. Young.
