HERKIMER, N.Y. – The senior residents who have chosen to live at the adult home of Folts-Claxton Manor in Herkimer as an alternative to living at home are encouraged to maintain their outside interests and activities, and lead as independent a lifestyle as they wish.

On those days when the residents have no special plans, they are welcome to join the Claxton Manor activities department in leisure activities.

Recently, they were tempted into making fresh fruit bouquets for Valentine’s Day.

The bouquets consisted of fresh pineapple cut into the shape of hearts, grapes and strawberries and pink marshmallows, all dipped in chocolate and topped with colored sprinkles, then placed on bamboo skewers.  

A Valentine’s mug lined with colorful tissue paper was used as the vase and each bouquet was one of a kind.  The residents and staff agreed that they were absolutely yummy.
