Marine has close call
|
USAF A1/C (airman first class) Shane M. Long, of Richfield Springs,
holds part of an Iraqi insurgent’s rocket. The rocket landed and
exploded close enough to Long to knock him to the ground and cause a
temporary loss of hearing (he is OK now). This was during a recent
rocket attack on the U.S. Marine base he is stationed at outside
Fallujah, Iraq. Long is a graduate of Richfield Springs Central School,
and is the son of Elaine (Long) MacBlain of Richfield Springs, and the
grandson of John and Rita Murtha of Columbia, who along with his wife
Sarah, are anxiously awaiting his safe return in September.
