Groundbreaking Richfield Springs woman to be honored in statewide event
ONEONTA -- New York State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that Jackie Hinckley of Richfield Springs has been selected as a 2009 New York State “Woman of Distinction.”
“I am proud to honor Jackie Hinckley as a Woman of Distinction and prouder still of the recognition she has earned from her neighbors, colleagues and friends for her achievements on behalf of our community,” said Senator Seward.
Hinckley is well known throughout Richfield Springs as “the head of the Zone,” and was instrumental in taking the Zone Community Center from a dream to reality. She helped oversee fundraising efforts that brought in over $130,000 to build the community youth center, serving on the youth center’s board of directors as president and currently as treasurer.
“Jackie is one of those success stories that we can proudly share with our daughters, sisters and neighbors and who will serve as an example for achievement and excellence for our entire community,” said Seward.
“There were a number of fine nominees submitted from across the 51st district, and I am proud to represent all of these wonderful women. All should be commended for the impressive work they do and their distinguished contributions to the community,” Seward concluded.
Jackie Hinckley is to be honored June 10 at an Albany reception at the Capitol with other women from across the state.
The Senate’s “Woman of Distinction” program was created in 1998 to honor New York women who exemplify personal excellence, or whose professional achievements or acts of courage, selflessness, integrity or perseverance serve as an example to all New Yorkers. |
