Eckler Racing Team ends great season

Katie Eckler, 16, of Van Hornesville, has had a busy racing season with ten first places, two second place wins, and one third place finish between grass drags, ice drags, ice ovals and 100 mile races. Her season started at Salisbury’s grass drags on September 13, 2008, with two wins on the ski-doo 98 MXZX 440, winning JR 440 and men’s 500 Trail Stock, and ended with Eckler taking third at the East Herkimer’s Hot Dog Oval races on February 28, 2009.

Eckler would like to thank Kevin Bobnik for the use of his 292 Yamaha and would not have landed a Boonville trophy if not for him. Also, Pickwick’s MotorSports of Milford, for all their help and support. Above all, she said she would like to thank her dad, Jim Eckler, for his time, effort and support, and for making it all possible.

Eckler will spend her summer racing her dirt sportsmen stock car at Glen Ridge MotorSports Park, where she has also won before.

The Eckler Racing Team has also had several other wins. Brian Nestle, nephew of Jim Eckler, ran Jim’s 03 ski-doo Rev600, taking four wins, including the Ohio bash Master Title for the second year in a row. Jim himself took a first place win for the first time in 22 years at the East Herkimer Snowriders Oval Races. He also had a fifth place finish at Boonville’s oval races on January 31.
