| “It was highly successful. More people were in attendance this year than last and we made well over $1,000 for the after prom party at Clark Sports Center,” said Lisa VanWinkler, a parent of a junior, and co-chair to Pam Preston, for Project Prom this year.Circus goers were delighted with acts that included trapeze artists, unicycles, clowns, acrobatics, stunts and a visit from Batman, The Dark Knight. Special lighting and sound effects were part of the overall staging of turning the RSCS gymnasium into a circus that delighted young and old. This was the fifth time the circus has come to RSCS to wow the crowd with different acts as thrilling and spectacular as before. |

| Project Prom is the initiative to provide Junior Prom participants with a safe and activity-filled after-prom party. Many area businesses contribute prizes and gift certificates that students can win. In addition to all the activities provided at Clark Sports Center the Project Prom committee provides other activities that keep students safe in a substance free well chaperoned environment after the Junior Prom.Junior class advisers Bethann Hammer and Lynda Oakes were pleased with the evening’s result. This year’s prom will be held at Hotel Utica and students are busy making decisions on menu, decorations and favors. “Lisa and Pam are working on a great Project Prom for the prom participants,” said Hammer. “They really have some fantastic ideas and I think the kids are going to be very pleased with their after-prom party.” Bruce Watson is a freelance writer for The Mercury and currently substitutes for ODY.
