RSCS staff plans leukemia fund raiser
by Bruce Watson

When the Richfield Springs Central School staff received word in December that former elementary principal Mary Tobin lost her courageous battle to leukemia it wasn’t long before they began to rally and plan several fundraisers to honor Tobin and donate money for research to combat this disease.

On Friday, February 27, a spaghetti dinner will be held in the school cafeteria beginning at 4:30 p.m.. The dinner will include spaghetti, meatballs, bread, salad and dessert. Running concurrently with the spaghetti dinner will be a Chinese auction with many gift baskets and prizes donated by staff and departments within the school,  organizations, community members and businesses from the surrounding community.

The Chinese auction will continue through Saturday, February 28, at the Donkey Basketball game that will be held in the new gym beginning at 7 p.m. Pre-admission tickets for the game are $5 per person.

Students from the school will be coming home with information regarding pre-sale tickets and tickets will be available at the main office of the school. Members of the school staff and community will be playing on teams in the Saturday event.

Members of the staff will also be selling $1 donation raffle tickets for three cash prizes of $150, $75 and $50. Winners of the Chinese auctions and raffles will be announced at the Donkey Basketball game.

For further information contact Mary Weingates or Chuck McMann at RSCS, at 858-0610.
